How Riskado is paid
Last updated:
Riskado is an independent insurance information site and a directory of insurance agencies. This page explains where its income comes from, so you can weigh what you read and which listings you see.
Paid listings in the directory
Agencies can choose a paid directory plan, Pro or Sponsored. Each plan is a flat monthly or yearly fee for advertising and presentation. The fee is never tied to inquiries, clicks, quotes, policies sold or commissions, and Riskado takes nothing from a policy an agency writes.
A Sponsored listing carries the word "Sponsored" on the listing itself, on the category and city page where it appears, and in any list that includes it. A listing, paid or not, is information for you to follow up on. It is not an endorsement, a recommendation or a check of the agency.
How listings are ordered
In a town, listings appear in the directory's normal order, such as by name or by how well an agency fits the town and category. There is no hidden ranking. Paid plans change only what is described here:
- Sponsored listings are paid placements, and they are always labelled "Sponsored".
- Pro listings carry a "Pro" label and may be shown first when listings are otherwise equal.
- On a Pro or Sponsored agency's own listing page, other agencies are not shown.
Paying never changes the facts shown about any agency.
Reviews and paid plans
When reviews are available, a listing's Pro or Sponsored plan does not change which reviews appear, how they are ordered or whether they are removed. Agencies cannot pay to hide, reorder or delete a review.
Web-marketing services for agencies
Riskado also sells web-marketing services to agencies: web design, search engine optimization, review management and video marketing. An agency that buys those services may also appear in the directory or be mentioned in an article, and buying a service does not change how its listing is ordered or labelled.
Affiliate links
Riskado has no affiliate links to insurers, carriers or quote tools today. If an affiliate link is ever added, the page that carries it says so at the top, in the language of the page, and this page explains how the commission works: the site may earn a commission if you buy through the link, and your price stays the same.
