Claim Your Agency Listing

Claiming your agency's Riskado listing is free. Fill in the claim form with the agency name, the address of the listing page, your name and role and your email, plus a phone number and a short message about what needs changing if you want to add them. We check each claim by hand against the listing and the agency's public contact details before changing anything, then reply by email. Once the claim goes through, you can correct the agency's name, address, phone and website, add one photo and write your own short description. A claimed listing is not an endorsement, and Riskado is an independent information site and directory, not an insurer, agency or broker.

What you can change on a claimed listing

On a claimed listing, you can correct the agency name, street address, phone number and website, and we re-check those corrections before they go live. You can also add one photo, such as the front of the office or a team shot, and replace the default text with a short description written by the agency.

A description works best when it sticks to facts a visitor can act on, such as the lines of insurance you handle and how to reach you. If a detail is wrong today, such as an old suite number or a phone line that now rings somewhere else, name it in your message.

Who should send the claim

The person sending the claim can be the owner, a producer, an office manager or another staff member the agency has authorized to handle its listings. Say your role in the form. An email address at the agency's own domain makes the hand check simple. If you use a personal address, include enough public contact information, such as the main office number or the address on your website, for us to match the request with the listing.

Captive offices often have an extra step before touching a third-party listing. Carrier rules differ, so ask your carrier or agency compliance contact whether a directory listing needs approval or prescribed wording before you send the claim.

Send your claim

Complete the form with the agency name, the listing page address (copy it from your browser's address bar), your name, your role at the agency and an email. A phone number and a short message are optional, but the message is the place to list the changes you want. Leave passwords, verification codes, payment details and carrier logins out of the message; the claim needs none of them.

Send your claim request

We use a phone number only to reply to this request, never for marketing calls or texts. How we handle what you send: privacy policy.

What happens after you submit

A confirmation appears on the page once your request is sent. From there, a person at Riskado compares what you sent with the listing and with the agency's public contact details. Nothing on the listing changes before that check is done. We then reply to the email address in the form.

Keeping your listing accurate under advertising rules

A directory listing is a public statement about your agency, so the usual advertising standards apply to what you write in it. Use the legal or approved operating name your agency is authorized to use in your state, and keep the description factual and current. Words like "best," "official" or "certified," a claimed carrier affiliation, or a promise of coverage or savings belong in a listing only when the agency can back them up and lawfully use them.

The NAIC Unfair Trade Practices Act, Model 880 (opens in a new tab) (Spring 2024) treats false or misleading statements and representations about insurance policies as unfair trade practices. It is a model, not a nationwide law; each state adopts, changes or replaces its provisions. California shows how specific state rules can get. A proposed agency name there may not mislead the public or imply affiliation with a well-known company, according to the California Department of Insurance business entity FAQ (opens in a new tab), and license numbers must appear on certain business cards, premium quotes and print advertisements under California Bulletin 96-08 (opens in a new tab). Your agency remains responsible for meeting the state and carrier rules that apply to it, and your state insurance department (opens in a new tab) can answer questions about the rules in your state. This is general information, not legal advice.

Free listing or a paid plan

You do not need a paid plan to claim a listing. The free claimed listing covers the corrections, one photo and the short description. Two paid plans add presentation and placement for agencies that want them, with no contracts and the option to cancel anytime:

  • Pro, $39 a month or $390 a year: up to 15 photos, a longer description with services and an FAQ, a Pro label, a place ahead of unclaimed listings in ties, a Message this agency form that goes to the agency email, monthly views and clicks, and no other agencies shown on your own listing.
  • Sponsored, $79 a month (founding rate) or $790 a year per category and town page, with at most two per page, always labelled Sponsored.

Paid plans buy presentation and placement, never reviews, badges, credentials or trust. To arrange one, use the contact form and choose the topic for a Pro or Sponsored directory plan. Full details sit on the plans and pricing page.

Questions about claiming a listing

These answers cover situations that come up once an agency finds its listing.

What if I only want one detail fixed?

Send the claim anyway and name the detail in your message. The same hand check applies to a single correction, and claiming the listing lets you fix future changes, such as a move or a new phone line, the same way.

Can I add my carrier's name or logo to the listing?

Ask your carrier or agency compliance contact first. Carriers often require approval and brand-guideline compliance before an agent uses their name or marks; Progressive's brand guidelines (opens in a new tab) bar altering its logo and warn that unauthorized use can lead to termination of an agent's producer agreement.

Does claiming change where my agency appears?

A free claim updates your details, photo and description. Placement changes come with the Pro plan, which places a listing ahead of unclaimed listings in ties, and with Sponsored spots on category and town pages, which always carry the Sponsored label.

Agency not on Riskado?

If you looked for your agency and it is not in the agency directory, use the add your agency page to send its details instead.
